Three Balloon Monkey on a Palm Tree

A classic, requested at least once a night. Who doesn't love monkeys in thier native habitat. This is one you just have to learn hot make. Without a doubt you'll be asked for one.

This was request by Theresa Leinweber. She emailed me "I was hoping to figure out
the monkey and the palm tree. There were two clowns at our union picnic
every year when we lived at the coast, and that was one of the things I
just couldn't quite figure out."

Well here you go Theresa. Enjoy the monkey.

Michael, thank you so much!!!

This was my first time at balloon sculpting and you're an inspiration! I made your cheeky monkey on a palm tree (albeit with two balloon casualties when learning to master those pinch twists!) for my brother's birthday (he's 30, lol!) and everyone(!) loved it. I will certainly be doing more balloon modelling as I enjoyed it so much. :D

I know it would take lots of time, but if you are bored some night, (Ha, ha) it would be just great if you could take pictures, close up, of the cute faces you draw on the animals. Sometimes the quality of the video makes it hard to see the great detail of them and I since I think my faces bite the big one, I'd love to see the detail of yours. If you could, post them on the appropriate animal page. Thanks so much for the videos and the effort you put into helping us. I just LOVE your site. :)

What do you mean this is a classic requested at least once a night.
The little kiddies, I assume, do not know what is a classic in balloon animals. I had no idea this is a classic and I am not a kid for a long while now.
The only classic that EVERYONE knows is the poodle/dog.

In this regard, when you just started, did you have like a list of all the models in your repertoire and people chose from them or do you suggest to people or do they just ask?

Becasue I can't see how someone can ask for a monkey on a palm tree on their own, without some kind of a little push by you.

i think that if you take the trunk balloon and twist it in half and the insert it into the leaves and then make it into a spiral it adds even more dimention. and im a balloon twister myself.

Use a yellow short ballooon, and the monkey can hold a banana.

Use 3 petal twists at the very bottom and to make it stand up.

Adjust them so they lay flat and perpendicular, like a 3 petaled sword without a handle.

Or just like in the video...
but dont make a little bubble at the very bottom and add another petal twist.

I think that your balloon mankey on the palm tree is really really really awsome, but i think that teh palm leaves are to small, mabie you should make them a little bigger.
